I can see myself living here. The chateaux is tasteful, the interior modern and simple. It has a rooftoop patio and magnificent views. From what I understand, it’s 13th century but the inside has been completely redone. So on the one hand, it losses a lot of the unique properties that make castles awesome. (High...

I’m having a lot of trouble deciding exactly what to use this property for. My initial idea was, that I need to provide extra value in the way of training, coaching, or services. Because a lot of writers probably don’t need a writing retreat – they need help building a successful author career. Likewise, a lot of digital...

I just stumbled across this gem: the outside looks OK. The inside probably needs a lot of work. It’s in Northern France so much cooler and a very different feel, close to Switzerland. But it’s surrounded by mountains… there’s lots of hiking and rock climbing in the summer, and skiing in the winter. The...

1.5 million eu. Purple spires. Some cute cottages. This one is actually well furnished, which would save a ton of time and effort, and it has a modern kitchen.

This isn’t one of my favorites… but it makes the list for 1.4 million Eu. I like the outside and the view, the inside not so much. But it does like kind of comfy, like grandma’s house.       http://en.bellesdemeures.com/listings/luxury-sale/castle/vebret-15/93666239.htm?bclannpg=18&idpays=250&idtt=8&idtypebien=13&pxmax=1700000&pxmin=1100000&tri=d_px&referrer=liste

This one reminds me of Oregon’s “Enchanted Forest.” For 1.5million EU it’s a contender, and it looks like it has a bunch of side buildings as well and quite a lot of grounds.     http://www.bellesdemeures.com/annonces/achat-de-prestige/chateau/chateauroux-36/la-loge-notz-cre-touvent/79619313.htm?ci=360044&idqfix=1&idtt=8&idtypebien=13&tri=d_dt_crea&bd=li_LienAnn_Photo

I love this one; fairy tale perfect. The outside is impressive.   The inside is perfect.   But it seems to be about 5 million. That’s more than I have in mind – however, it’s just 1000 people pitching in $5000. Don’t you think we could pull it off? Property listing here.

This lovely castle is only £1.2 million. I love the facade and towers, but it was only built in 1906 so it’s lacking history. It has a more modern, austere feeling and sparse furnishing, and I really want the luxurious French decorations in the bigger chateaus. The view is amazing though.

Here’s something a little more realistic, for around 1 million USD. http://www.luxuryestate.com/p10236150-castle-for-sale-gignac The inside isn’t as grand, the ceilings not as high. The furniture will need to be replaced and the interior redesigned to make it more luxurious. But the outside is tough to beat.
