When I first had this idea, people told me it was dumb. It’s risky. It’s not safe. It’s bad business. You’ll lose money. They said I should rent. But I wasn’t interested. And I’m kind of right, because…. Renting isn’t remarkable. I can’t put up a Kickstarter campaign saying “I want to rent a castle...

I can see myself living here. The chateaux is tasteful, the interior modern and simple. It has a rooftoop patio and magnificent views. From what I understand, it’s 13th century but the inside has been completely redone. So on the one hand, it losses a lot of the unique properties that make castles awesome. (High...

You have to read the description to appreciate this one… it’s surrounded by 1000 years of history, holy water, sacred groves, crumbling ruins, druids. You get a whole medieval town (or the remains of one). Plus a moderately functional castle. Don’t know the price but I’d like to see it. http://www.patrice-besse.co.uk/chateaux-for-sale-France/picardy/medieval-town-listed/

I’m having a lot of trouble deciding exactly what to use this property for. My initial idea was, that I need to provide extra value in the way of training, coaching, or services. Because a lot of writers probably don’t need a writing retreat – they need help building a successful author career. Likewise, a lot of digital...

I just stumbled across this gem: the outside looks OK. The inside probably needs a lot of work. It’s in Northern France so much cooler and a very different feel, close to Switzerland. But it’s surrounded by mountains… there’s lots of hiking and rock climbing in the summer, and skiing in the winter. The...

40 rooms with a pool and tennis court for 1.4 million eu… it’s not my style but I would love to see what the inside looks like (there aren’t pictures on the site). 1.5 million eu. Purple spires. Some cute cottages. This one is actually well furnished, which would save a ton of time and effort, and it has a modern kitchen.

This isn’t one of my favorites… but it makes the list for 1.4 million Eu. I like the outside and the view, the inside not so much. But it does like kind of comfy, like grandma’s house.       http://en.bellesdemeures.com/listings/luxury-sale/castle/vebret-15/93666239.htm?bclannpg=18&idpays=250&idtt=8&idtypebien=13&pxmax=1700000&pxmin=1100000&tri=d_px&referrer=liste

This one reminds me of Oregon’s “Enchanted Forest.” For 1.5million EU it’s a contender, and it looks like it has a bunch of side buildings as well and quite a lot of grounds.     http://www.bellesdemeures.com/annonces/achat-de-prestige/chateau/chateauroux-36/la-loge-notz-cre-touvent/79619313.htm?ci=360044&idqfix=1&idtt=8&idtypebien=13&tri=d_dt_crea&bd=li_LienAnn_Photo
